Only up to 7% of plastic is recycled worldwide each year. It seems to be easier for every manufacturer to claim their products are recyclable however it is expensive and inefficient to do. One of main reasons is there are almost 50 different types of plastics in production to date. It is also difficult to sort them, which makes it expensive and not cost affect at all. To recycle plastics, it is required to be the same type of plastic that is being recycled at the time of recycling and not all plastics can be recycled.
